When it comes to formal dress wear I kind of don’t have anything to throw on, except for this elegant pleated skirt I bought last autumn on sale. Since then, it has become my fail-safe piece whenever I need to attend a sophisticated event that requires a strict dress code, plus it’s extremely easy to style. A staple that shouldn’t miss from any wardrobe, the evening skirt is definitely worth the investment especially because the wedding season is getting closer now – a pretty smart choice if you don’t feel like wearing a gown. And believe me, it’s guaranteed to make your look stand out from the crowd if paired with the right top and accessories.
For today’s post I want to present an effortless way to style the occasion midi in order to obtain an elegant yet less formal attire. So I went for a knit blouse, injecting the look with shades of burgundy, floral prints and a bit of sparkle. It’s important though to go for fine details when choosing the right top, in this case the satin bow on the right shoulder matches the skirt pretty well. Also, the occasion midi should have a bespoke design and good-quality fabric so try to invest in a statement number that cinches at the waist for extra style points ( find a similar one HERE ). Therefore, I chose to wear a pleated Ted Baker skirt rich in colour ( my current favourite brand when it comes to timeless elegance ). The mix of pink, white and burgundy shades creates a flattering appearance complemented by the vivid florals of the bag. Just add a pair of chandelier earrings and you’re good to go…
